Firm History
The firm has been located in its present building at 8200 Fort Smallwood Road since its inception when Leo Hylan left the law firm of Eccleston and Wolf in 1991. Sometime earlier, Leo was introduced to Trevor Kiessling by former State Senator, World War II veteran, and sometimes singer with the Stan Kenton Band, Jerome Connell. Senator Connell was instrumental in assisting Leo and Trevor in building a practice.
The building itself has a rich history in Anne Arundel County law and politics. Former Senator Phil Jimeno used the building as his campaign headquarters upon his election to the State Senate, and Trevor Kiessling used the building for his campaign headquarters in his bid for the Maryland General Assembly. Mr. Kiessling remained in the building to start his practice alongside Leo Hylan.
The building is next door to historic Lou’s Barber shop and across the street from the famous Stoney Creek Democratic Party Club.
Other attorneys of note that have shared space and practice with the firm include the late Charlie Tufts, who retired from the firm in 2001, and passed away in 2005, and Lauren Parker, who joined the office in 2004, and in late 2006 was elected to the Register of Wills of Anne Arundel County.
Since its inception, the firm has grown from a relatively localized practice and now includes litigation in many surrounding counties, including state and federal courts.
